- Must admit, that is news to me. I was under the impression that the only
- upgrade from the original Denise was the ECS Denise. At least, that seemed
- to be the situation when I upgraded my A500 to its current spec. Of course,
- the ECS Denise was used in the A500+ and then the A600, but could be put
- into the A500 (and presumably A1000) - it was designed to make the A600
- better (haha!) than the A500, NOT just to raise revenue by getting A500
- owners to upgrade a single chip (IIRC)!

- Replacing SMD devices is not easy - usually need specialist tools if you are
- going to do this properly without damaging the pcb (and we are not just
- talking a simple soldering iron ehre, either).
-
- Personally, I reckon that they should expend effort on developing the
- hardware for the new PowerAmiga, as any hardware (IC) improvements to the
- 680x0Amiga range would not really be of significant benefit to the Amiga
- community in general, whereas any effort directed at a chipset for the
- PowerAmiga would be of more benefit in the long run.
-
- Just my 2p worth.
